The Tortugueros of Isla Verde operate under the DRNA permit: 2021-EPE-010 (R-VS-PVS15-SJ-00898-28012021). We work with sea turtles on the beaches of Carolina from Punta las Marías to Boca de Cangrejos.

Throughout the year, juvenile Green Turtles (White Peje) and Hawksbill feed on the Isla Verde reef, but at a special time the Leatherbacks come to nest on the beaches of Carolina. From March to July we are active in patrolling the beaches, protecting the nests, ensuring that the hatching process is successful and documenting all activity for scientific purposes. The Tortugueros of Isla Verde, we work with volunteers, the Carolina Municipal Police, the beach cleaning company Mangual Cleaning Services and the neighboring Tortuguero 7 Quillas group in San Juan. All interventions with these sea turtles are carried out under the direction of marine biologist Carlos Diez (DRNA).
